If you have been searching for a different approach to your health—one that looks beyond a single symptom, body part, or diagnosis—you may be wondering what exactly Firm Foundation Integrative Health is and how our approach is different.

Located in Smyrna, Georgia, Firm Foundation Integrative Health was created around a simple belief: God designed the body with an incredible capacity to heal and adapt. We believe our role is to support that God-given design by looking at the whole person rather than simply treating a symptom.

Our approach is centered around three foundational areas: body, mind, and spirit.

We believe that each of these areas matters when it comes to understanding health and pursuing true healing.

Who Are Josiah and Jenna?

Firm Foundation Integrative Health was founded by husband-and-wife team Dr. Josiah Bartlett, PT, DPT, and Jenna Bartlett.

Our own health journeys played a significant role in shaping the practice we have today. Through our experiences, we began to see that health is often much more complex than simply identifying a diagnosis or treating the location of someone's pain.

The human body is interconnected.

The nervous system communicates with the rest of the body. Structural patterns can influence movement and function. Chemical and nutritional factors can affect how the body operates. Emotional experiences can influence the nervous system and physical patterns. And as Christians, we believe that our spiritual lives are not separate from the rest of who we are.

These experiences led us to pursue a different way of caring for people—one that recognizes the uniqueness of each individual and seeks to understand the person as a whole.

That became the foundation of Firm Foundation Integrative Health.

What Does “Integrative Health” Mean?

The word integrative can mean different things to different people.

For us, it means looking at the whole person and considering the different systems and influences that may be contributing to how someone is feeling and functioning.

Rather than asking only, “Where does it hurt?”, we want to understand the bigger picture.

What is happening structurally?

How is the nervous system responding?

Are there nutritional or chemical factors that may be influencing function?

Could emotional stress be contributing to physical patterns?

How are different areas of the body communicating with one another?

And, for those who desire it, how does faith and spiritual health fit into their healing journey?

Our approach may consider physical, chemical, emotional, neurological, electrical, and visceral aspects of the body, while recognizing that each person's needs are different.

We don't believe there is one treatment that is right for everyone.

Instead, we use individualized assessment and the body's responses to help guide the direction of care.

No Two Appointments Are Exactly the Same

One of the things that makes Firm Foundation different is that we don't believe in putting every person through the same treatment routine.

No two appointments are exactly the same.

Your body may respond differently today than it did last week. Your current stress level, activity, nutrition, sleep, history, and other factors can all influence how you are functioning.

That's why we believe care should be responsive to the individual rather than based solely on a diagnosis or predetermined protocol.

Our goal is to listen, assess, and allow the body's responses to help guide the care we provide.

This individualized approach is one of the reasons we value spending time with each person one-on-one.

Physical Care with Dr. Josiah

Dr. Josiah Bartlett is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (PT, DPT) who provides individualized physical care based on each person's unique needs and goals.

His approach incorporates a variety of assessment and treatment techniques and may include manual therapy, myofascial work, movement and neurological approaches, Applied Kinesiology principles, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, and individualized nutritional support.

Rather than simply asking where a person hurts, the goal is to understand what may be contributing to the dysfunction and how the body is responding.

This can be particularly valuable for individuals dealing with injuries, chronic pain, movement limitations, headaches and migraines, recovery needs, or people who simply want a more comprehensive approach to their physical health.

Our goal isn't to chase symptoms.

It is to understand the person sitting in front of us and support the body's ability to function and heal as effectively as possible.

Emotional & Spiritual Wellness with Jenna

We believe physical health is only one part of the picture.

Jenna provides Emotion Code and Jesus-centered Inner Healing sessions for individuals who want to address the emotional and spiritual aspects of their health and well-being.

Emotion Code is a gentle approach that focuses on identifying and releasing emotional burdens that may be stored within the body.

Jesus-centered Inner Healing is rooted in our Christian faith and creates space to explore emotional wounds, beliefs, and areas of life where someone may desire greater freedom, healing, and restoration through Jesus.

Our faith is not simply an additional service we offer. It is foundational to why Firm Foundation exists.

We believe that Jesus Christ is ultimately our firm foundation, and our desire is to honor Him through the way we care for people.

For those who desire it, prayer and biblical truth can be an important part of the healing process.

Why “Firm Foundation”?

Our name comes from the words of Jesus in Matthew 7:24–25, where He describes the importance of building a house on a solid foundation.

That picture represents what we hope to provide through our practice.

A strong foundation matters.

It matters for a house.

It matters for the physical body.

It matters for emotional well-being.

And ultimately, it matters for our lives.

We believe that God created our bodies intentionally and gave them remarkable abilities to heal, adapt, and respond. We also believe that our ultimate foundation is not found in a treatment, practitioner, supplement, or technique.

Our foundation is Jesus Christ.

That belief shapes the way we approach our work, the way we care for our patients, and the reason we created Firm Foundation Integrative Health.

Why We Choose to Practice Differently

Firm Foundation Integrative Health is a private-pay practice in Smyrna, Georgia.

We intentionally chose this model because it allows us to focus on individualized care rather than structuring appointments around insurance limitations.

Our goal is to create an environment where we can slow down, listen to your story, assess what your body is communicating, and provide care based on your individual needs.

We don't believe healthcare should feel like an assembly line.

You are a unique person with a unique history, and we believe your care should reflect that.

Building a Stronger Foundation

At the end of the day, Firm Foundation Integrative Health is about much more than a collection of techniques.

It's about people.

It's about listening to someone's story.

It's about recognizing that the body, mind, and spirit are interconnected.

It's about respecting the incredible design God placed within the human body.

It's about providing individualized care rather than assuming everyone needs the same thing.

And for us, it's about using the gifts and knowledge God has given us to serve others and point people back to Him.

Whether you are recovering from an injury, navigating a chronic health concern, looking for a different approach to physical care, or simply want to better understand your body, we would love the opportunity to hear your story.
